Boring toyDec 03, 2009
By Kristi My daughter is a HP fan and really wanted this wand. It is hard to tell much from the photo so I ordered it for her. I should have read the reviews first. It is not very realistic at all and would only appeal to very young children. We didn't have any problems with the batteries as stated in other reviews and it has worked fine, she just lost interest in it almost immediately. A very boring product to say the least. The only reason to buy it would be to use with a child's HP costume. Also, you can't shut it off. If you touch it, it lights up and makes noise. The only way to stop it is to take the batteries out.

won't lastDec 31, 2007
By D. Peterson this was what my nephew really wanted for Christmas. it was inexpensive enough, that should have been a warning. it took fits to get the batteries in right so that it would turn on. then once it started working after a few "spells" it started shorting out. maybe lasted 5 minutes. we were always able to resurrect it but i doubt it will last longer than a few weeks. i would have preferred to have spent more and been assured he could enjoy it for a long while.

Fun, playful, and mildly amusing.Nov 25, 2007
By T. Sullivan This product plays three sounds. The sounds can be triggered with either movement or touch. It was a very fun prop for halloween. The only downside to this product is its size. It is wider at the base than I imagined and I had a very hard time fitting it into my costume. For the price though, this product is the best option. For any Harry Potter or wizarding fans please note that this is a plastic wand and not meant to be taken seriously!

Stopped Working Within 3 HoursMay 02, 2009
By JanePeters This wand is absolute junk. On the back of the wand is a plate that must be unscrewed to install two AA batteries. The batteries are a tight fit with one going up into the body of the wand. When you shake the wand or make any movement the tip of the wand lights up and makes a noise.
Within three hours, the toy no longer worked at all. My guess is that there is a loose connection but there is no way to see it because the negative connection and wire are in the body of the wand which is impossible to get to. Why they couldn't have made a better battery compartment with an on/off switch is beyond me. We didn't spend a lot for the toy but I do expect it to work for longer than three hours.
The ONLY reason we are keeping it is because my son loves it and can still pretend even though the wand does not work.

Works... for 10 minutesNov 29, 2009
By P. Schneider I have to give the manufacturer credit -- they've figured out a way to create a product that never functions quite the same. Each wand I bought for my three kids stopped working as intended within the first 24 hours of purchase. The first one would only activate intermittently, the second one didn't make a sound at all right out of the box (I kept it since we needed it for Halloween), and the third one made sounds even when you didn't move it. Seriously, it's a very poorly made toy. You're probably better off buying a wand that doesn't make any sound but looks more like the real deal.
